Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Teachable Moments

During our 7/8 grade class we discussed salvation history and ended with recognizing the importance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by reading the quotes on the front of this weeks bulletin. The importance of Dr. King's witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, is one that we continue to learn from, even today as we see the ugliness of racism in our daily lives. As one of our students said, "It's sad that people still have to experience racism." I agree. But we also reminded them that they are the light that can penetrate that darkness. We are called to be people who walk in the light and to care for the common good. So that is our hope.

Our hope lives in each one of us who desire a more just and peaceful world.

A couple of my personal favorite quotes.

And since this is the week for teaching the Seven Deadly sins:

I like this image because there is an immediate active response to undoing the behavior that leads to sin.

And the Fruits of the Spirit...

You can feel the Holy Spirit at work when you experience any of these!

Finally, here is 4 Ways to Keep Your Prayer Life Consistent which includes an examination of conscience. This is something that can be done any time, anywhere and for any reason. It is a great checkpoint in one's day. To learn more, click the image!

I hope this is useful as we all try to grow into a deeper relationship with God. Stay well!

Next zoom class will be 1/31!
