Proceed With Caution

I just wanted to clarify some confusion that may have occurred because our region opened up some areas of business today. To be clear churches are not part of this phase.

We continue to await direction from the diocese who continues to await direction from the state and local agencies who have been tasked with managing the opening. It is important to remember that once we do open, we will do so with great caution to minimize any exposure to our community. We await directives from the diocese to determine how and when to celebrate the sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation. This may look very different than in the past and will not happen immediately. Our first hurdle to get over is the actual re-opening when it happens.

We absolutely understand how disappointing it is to NOT have things run business as usual as we are disappointed too, but we also do not want to add to the disappointment by heightening expectations. In addition, we want to be especially prudent with First Communion now that we don't know the implications of this disease on children. As of last nights news, there may be COVID 19 related illnesses which they are trying to determine.

These are unprecedented times and we are all hoping for guidance as we transition into
reopening. It is our promise that once we have information to share with you about the sacraments, we will do so immediately. In the meantime, please know that you are missed and remembered in our prayers.
